  • help with black.......

    Hello,

It looks like I've come to the right place. I'm a recent member and have a '99 black Lexus that looks like every shopping bag it ever carried was dragged over ever horizontal surface.
I've used scratchX and I see it does work if (as Mike says) you WORK IT IN AND ON.
However this poor baby is so bad I wanna use something stronger, by hand.
After looking at some the beautiful black machines on this site I'm green with envy.
All you guys with gorgeous black paint...can you give a fellow CC guy some advice.

    Thanks

You can try getting the new M105.

Read this thread and you can see how Mike compared ScratchX vs. M105 when removing a bird dropping etch.

Thanks.....I have looked at that and was amazed. ScatchX did a nice job on mine of removing bird droppings and other mysterious spots but it's the circular scratches all over that are such a heartbreak in the sunlight......
I guess I don't want to rub too hard and make a worse mess. I'm told this make/model/year did not have clear coat. I did the clear coat check and yes I am removing black paint....

      Thank you

What are you trying to remove, swirls? How many applications did you do using ScratchX?

          Hello Francis,

Actually small scratches all over. Some swirls of course from previous wax jobs, (not mine). The scratches are in all directions, very ramdom, like very carless use of the vehical. As we know all paint scratches but dark colors really show it.
It actually may not be all that carless, just normal (not car crazy) use....putting package's and keys and whatnot on any flat surface......even the roof on this baby!
ScratchX does work but it would take a dozen applications I think...

Bob again with some good news. I may have found a solution. Several applications of #2 Medium Cut Professional has done a super job on the right side C pillar...even in evening sunlight.
            MeGuiars has done the trick!!!!!!!!!!!

Me again.....with more info and a question. When I use the #2 Medium Cut Pro I rub it in pretty good until it starts to break down and I hear the paint squeaking? It's then that I wipe with a clean fresh MF cloth and WOW.
I don't know if I'm doing this in the proper manner but the results are sure spectacular......unless tomorrow's afternoon sun proves me wrong.
Question is: Is the squeaking normal or am I doing something wrong?
