  • My Neighbors Think I'm NUTS!

Went out to wash my truck today and got involved with more than just washing again. Put on a coat of Quick Detailer first which only took about 20 minutes. Then followed up with a coat of NXT Spray Wax, which took about an hour or so. Gotta say that I love the stuff. I used NXT Protectant for the first time also on the exterior trim, I like that a lot too. Natural finish Endurance on the tires.
Anyway, I also did my wheel wells with the NXT Protectant. My neighbor was out and came over and asked if I always waxed my wheel wells! What else could I say but Sure! All the time! Guess I will be the talk of the neighborhood. The crazy guy that waxes his wheel wells. Oh Well! Whatever! Bet my truck is cleaner than their cars!

I remember with my old 65' stang whenever I washed my car, neighbors wondered how much I would charged to clean theirs. Now with my 89' GT, I get "Come over and wax my car."

My neighbors probably think I'm nuts too b/c they see me wash my car once a week.

Which ever washed car had been sitting outside overnight, I usually go over with a QD every morning for the 1st couple days. My neighbors eye at me like I've been wacked in the head by some car detailer. They too ask how much I charge, sorry my service aren't for sale. Go get your own NXT.

Oh well, who the heck cares. My cars are glossy and clean, beats their non-beading Saturns and Civics.

Next time you know he is watching, lean over and give your truck a big hug and kiss...

That should really get him wound up....

I've been out in the dark a few times the past couple of weeks working on my car. Came home from work one night last week at 9 pm and the weather was so nice, I didn't want to go inside...so I washed my car...felt the paint after and decided to clay.I have a couple of lights out there, so it's not "too" dark really.
I felt like a fool when ever someone walked by or came outside, but...what the heck? Nice night...ballgame on the radio...and I got some work done.
Today I started at 4pm. Washed, Cleaner,#81, and a coat of Tech Wax. Finished taking Tech Wax off in the dark, then did the tires and trim. First time applying Tech Wax...I have to wait until tommorow to see how it looks...lol
The neighbors might look at me funny as I drive up the street...hopefully they notice how good my car looks!

I actually had some (ex) friends insult me because I take good care of my car. They said, "I don't know why he cares about keeping it so clean, it's not even that nice of a car."

Well, it's a nicer car than they have, it's 2 years older than their cars and looks a lot bettter than theirs. Oh well, I feel good taking pride in the fact that the car looks good.

One Saturday morning earlier this summer, I was out washing my car. Neighbor lady out for her morning walk comes by and makes the comment "When I die i want to come back as your car. You are always taking care of that thing!" I just smiled ...

Don't worry, they're just as "original" in Ohio. My neighbors have just accepted that I'm totally nuts, but "harmless."

I don't get how people can have cars and not take care of them in even the most basic way. These things cost huge amounts of money, endless finance and still I see near-new cars with grime and dirt all over them, little dings and scratches, they look awful.

A friend of mine runs a garage business. He says in most cars he puts the plastic seat covers on customer vehicles not to protect the seat from his oily coveralls but to protect his oily coveralls from the seats!

A while back my neighbours couldn't believe I was washing my car in the rain. But it had rained for a week, and probably rain for another week so how else am I going to get the polutants, bird droppings, tree sap, etc. off it? Oh, just leave them on there like everybody else does. Then they wonder why thier matt paint, stained interior car is only worth bottom book value at trade in time?

Keeping a car clean through its life can make thousands of pounds/dollars difference after 2 or 3 years when its time for a new one.

                        Now whos crazy?

Ive washed my car in the rain , and my wife thinks im nuts. I just tell her that I have to take off last weeks dirt and get the car ready for next week dirt . After all how many of us take showers when we know that we are going to get dirty again. Since a car is the reflection of you it stands to reason that you should take care of your car like you take care of yourself.
