I am new to this. 5 months ago I bought a 2008 Silverado, black in color. I have been applying Liquid gold class about 3-4 times a month. The dealer told me recommended that I was twice a month for the first six months. I live in hawaii and have no garage. I was wondering what wax will give me the best protection and also last the longest. Also how often should I use the clay bar? What other things do I need to the paint to help it stay deep, wet and shiny? The smoothness of my truck gets a little rough about 2 weeks after I apply the wax. Is there wax out there that will keep a smooth feel longer? Also is synthetic wax better then original wax? I was born and raised on original wax and many of us here are leary of synthetic waxes. Thanks for all the help.

These links are a couple years old, so you will want to look at the Nxt Tech Wax 2.0 for the longest lasting and best protection.
The clay is one of those things that can vary. I would say you want twice a year minimum, but lots of factors can make it more often than that. Really, once you do a full detail, and see what smooth paint is, you will tell when you need it again.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

As for how long any of our waxes will last we don't make any claims or guarantees because there's too many factors that effect how long a wax will last that no one has any control over.
The best thing to do is to put into practice a maintenance program where you maintain the paint by re-applying a fresh coat of wax before the previous coat is completely worn away. PM = Preventative Maintenance.

How often do I need to clay my car's finish?
How often you need to clay your car depends upon what's in the air where your park you car. Meguiar's teaches people to feel that paint after washing or wiping the car clean and check to see if you feel any bonded contaminants, if you feel them then you need to clay the paint.

Is a synthetic wax better than a natural wax?
As in, is a synthetic wax better than a wax based on Carnauba, (for the most part Carnauba is the commonly used natural wax used in automotive wax formulas)
Our best protecting wax formula is our NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and it's all synthetic, no Carnauba or any other naturally occurring ingredient is used for protection.
We don't make a wax based solely on a single ingredient like Carnauba, all our waxes that contain Carnauba are blended waxes, that is they are a blend of Carnauba and other protection ingredients that could be both natural and synthetic.
Companies that base their waxes off just one ingredient you the user only get the benefits and features of that single ingredient. If you use a blended wax made by a reputable company then you get the benefits and features of multiple ingredients.
Sometimes you just have to purchase and try a few products until you find the one that's right for you.
