  • Trim Detailer over #40?

I'm working with a lot of Honda CR-V's. I want to use #40 to clean the wax residue off of the trim and the bumpers. Would it be okay to apply Trim Detailer over it?

Would this be the best way to detail those areas? I've read some good things about the durability of Trim Detailer and would like to give it a try. Other product lines that I've seen used on the trim look good for just a few days, but they seem to wash off quickly and easily and lose their shine.

Yes you can apply Trim Detailer over an application of M40

You're basically using the M40 as a cleaner, (as you mentioned), and then topping with a richer dressing.

Just to point out, plastics like used for auto trim don't absorb products very well so dressings are more or less topical and that's why they don't last very long.

It's best to practice regular maintenance on trim like this to keep it looking new, that can be hard when it's customer cars unless you set them up on a maintenance plan. (which is also a good idea)

I like to apply dressings, let them sit 5-10 minutes, then wipe off excess. As Mike said, they wont absorb in real well, and th eexcess can run and streak in the rain.

Being a Honda CR-V owner that actually keeps theirs clean (), I've noticed that just with regular maintenance my plastic trim has always looked its best.

After applying products like Mother's Back to Black (eh, I have mixed reviews) and Turtle Wax ICE (which actually does well on plastic trim), I haven't really noticed a difference between applying a protectant/dressing and leaving it without any product and just keeping it clean.

I have noticed some almost white CR-V bumpers, but after you revive the bumper back to its dark grey, a regular maintenance of washing and keeping it clean will keep it's like-new look.
