Re: Color X after M83
color x is used as a one step product, for just shining it up real quick and putting a layer of wax on.
If you're looking for a step between 83 and NXt or some other wax, go with 80.
83-80-nxt -- the steps I use on my car, and I love it.

Re: Color X after M83
Also, ColorX can be used to remove micro-marring left behind by a cleaner/polish usually on softer clear coats.
If you see micro-marring after using M83, M82, M80 or M09 in most cases the ColorX or M66 used with a soft foam finishing pad will remove the micro-marring.
As far as advantages go, probably no hard advantages but here's an example of when I've used ColorX after a paint cleaning step and that was to clean up the paint and make it easy to wipe down...
Follow me on this...
Sometimes after using a compound or a cleaner/polish you can have smudges of product here and there all over the paint and sometimes it can be hard to wipe off, so to clean it up and make the paint look good before going on to the next step I've applied a quick coat of a cleaner/wax like ColorX or M66 and this will effectively clean off any smudges and leave behind a thin wax coating that will dry fast and be easy to wipe off.
It's not something a person would do for every detail but sometimes it's worked for me for what I was doing at the time on a car. It's basically a way to make wiping a freshly compounded or polished paint job down while leaving a great looking finish even if the ColorX isn't going to be your last polishing step or your LSP.

Re: Color X after M83
Thanks for the info guys. I finished about 3/4 of the car today with M83 and will not have time to go to the next step. Will it hurt not to put a coat of wax right away? I do have m80, color X and CLeaner wax. All the products I use are Meguiar's. This is my second BMW I am working on now. I just traded a Benz 190E for it. I received so many compliments on the paint and how great it looked. It was a 1993. When I bought it the paint was in poor shape. So I think that speaks for itself about Meguiar's products.
