  • Correct Process?

So dispite searching online for hours I am yet to find any conclusive answers about what the correct process is for Buffing and using a clay bar. Am I better off using a Clay Bar first then Bufing or visa versa? Also, is there any more steps that should be done other that obviously a coat of wax afterwards?

            these are what i have:

            1. Wash- gold class

            2. Clay-smooth surface clay kit

            3. Clean- Color X

            4. Polish- Can you suggest one?

            5. Wax- Nxt 2.0 Liquid

            6. Wax-nxt 2.0 Paste wax or Nxt spray wax

            some questions:

            1. Can you recommend a polish that works well with these?
            2. Nxt Liquid then NXt paste..is this a waste? Is it better to have nxt liquid then spray wax?

              Re: Correct Process?

I would look at these two processes:

              1. Wash
              2. Clay as needed
              3. ColorX
              4. Wax - Nxt 2.0

              1. Wash
              2. Clay as needed
              3. Clean - A dedicated cleaning product such as DC#1, and ScratchX/#105 as needed
              4. Polish - DC#2 or #7 Show Car Glaze
              5. Wax - Nxt 2.0
              6. Wax - Nxt 2.0

It does not matter if you use the liquid or paste waxes, they are basically the same product, ones just more liquidy. However, the spray wax is not the same as a coat of liquid/paste wax. It is much more watered down and not the same protection.

Great question... let's break this down to simple simon...

You clay first to remove anything on top of the surface so that when you use a paint cleaner there's nothing in the way of the paint cleaner getting to the paint.

The only exception is if you're working on an extremely oxidized single stage paint, then you want to remove the dead paint first and follow this with claying, if you don't then you're clay will fill up with dead paint.
