  • My 1st Detail a Success!! BUT.....

Just completed my first detail since getting a new G110 from ADS. My car is a daily driver 02 Saturn L300--dark red.
    1. 2 bucket wash with Megs Gold Class wash
    2. Clayed entire car with Smooth Surface clay
    kit.
    3. Applied Color X with G110 W8207 yellow
pad to entire car. #3 speed
    4. Removed with ADS microfiber bonnet on
    W7207 burgandy pad. #5 speed.

Wow! what an improvement. In the past I had ued a Sears 6" orbital and various waxes. The metalflake reallly popped out! Entire finish looks like a smooth sheet of glass. (Sorry no pictures..daughter has my camera taking pics of first grandbaby).

But...I had my second pad issue. The burgandy W7207 with mf bonnet came apart after removing wax from 3/4 of the car. The pad started whipping wildly off center. I stopped machine and the white backing had melted and come off the pad again. Pad was almost too hot to touch. I'm going to apply a coat of carnuba over the Color X this evening when the sun gets over the mountain. I'll remove the same way and see what happens with a new pad. Any ideas on what if anything I may be doing wrong???? I'll wait and notify ADS after my wax application. He replaced the first pad.

Speed 5 was probably a bit much for removing the Color X.

Could you possibly be applying too much pressure during the buffing stage? Second thought....that shouldn't happen anyway as the pads are designed to be used under pressure and at speed 5 (at least the older 00 series pads were). Probably just a defective pad.

I was applying just slightly more pressure than the weight of the machine....

Meguiar's has been in contact with me and are working on my problem....a great company and forum!!
