  • ScratchX Hazing

I tried applying ScratchX with a terry applicator pad and did a couple of passes. After comparing it to the surrounding areas, the ScratchXed area seems hazed and the black paint seems less rich.

Is there any way to remove the hazing? Im not sure what I could be doing wrong.

    Thanks

Try additional applications with a soft foam applicator, the terry is a little more aggressive and is probably what caused the hazing. Is your arsenal limited to ScratchX applied by hand? There are other means of correcting this, like #80 with an 8006 on the G110.

The terry is a good way to start, but you will want to finish with an application or two froma gentle foam pad.

Also, be sure to work the product in properly, that is smearing across the area, then working it in with passion till it breaks down to a greasy clear.

When used properly the diminishing abrasives in ScratchX will break down to virtually nothing and generally you find the finish left behind is a definite notch above the surrounding area. Terry cloth has a pretty good bite of it's own, and especially working on black paint the probability of marring from the terry is quite high. Go over the area again with a foam applicator pad and you should eliminate the hazing quite easily.

Just as the others have said. Give it another coat with the foam applicator. You should be all set. Then all you have to do is give the area a coat of wax.
