  • Show Car Glaze Longevity

    Hey,
I'm going to be re waxing my car soon and saw some posts about the show car glaze. If I were to use that first than cover it with 2 coats of NXT wax how long would it last for? From what I have read online it doesn't last long, but I figured I'd ask here before I ruled it out.

If it matters, the car is a black daily-driver that lives outside, so it will get rained on etc.

    Edit:
Just so I'm clear, this will hide some of the swirls / small scratches that cover the car, correct?

#7 show car is a pure polish, they will normally hold up alone for 30 days. Applying wax over top will increase the life but weather and location will effect that. But for best results
    clean,polish,protect and maintain.

Show car glaze is a pure polish with NO corrective abilities as far as I know. If you want something for swirls or scratches and you're using a DA polisher like the G110, try #80.

Correcting the swirls is beyond my abilities right now, so I just want to hide/make them less noticeable them for now.

You would be amazed at would you can accomplish with a tube of scratch-x and doing a little homework. (reading tips and techniques here on mol).

Yeah, J.A. has it right. A couple of weeks ago I demonstrated to my father what ScratchX and PlastX could do on his car. We used the ScratchX primarily in the areas in and around the door handles. he was amazed. Ditto for the lights.

After about 30 seconds of instruction, he was remvoing scratches himself in a matter of seconds. I went out and bought him both products to use for himself. There is really no such thing as "beyond your abilities". A tube of ScratchX, a clean applicator pad and a bit of passion and your fine scratches will be gone!!!

If you are looking to mostly hide the defects try #9. It has some correcting abilities but really does well when you are looking to hide or reduce scratches that you can't get out.

                Just to chime in...

#7 Show Car Glaze is water soluble and it is not intended to be a long lasting product, it's a beauty product, not a wax or paint sealant. If you want to make the results it creates last then you apply a coat of wax over it.

As stated, it's non-abrasive so it won't remove defects because it won't remove paint. It will fill a little..

                Best combo would be to,

                Wash
                Clay if needed
Clean with a light paint cleaner like ScratchX or Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
                #7 Show Car Glaze
                NXT Tech Wax 2.0 x 2
