I have waxed my truck 3 times so far this year and each time I end up with the same result. The wax just does not seem to dry. I’ll wax the entire truck using the G100 and by the time I get all the way around the truck and back to where I had started from the wax looks the same and appears to have not started to set up one bit. I will even give it another half an hour and their will still not be one spot on the truck that has dried to a white haze. I use the swipe test to test if the wax is ready to remove and it never swipes totally clear. It always streaks and is somewhat oily.
I never used to have this problem before. In the past I had always waxed my truck outside before I purchased my current house about a year ago, which has 2 garages. So now that I have 2 garages, of course I am going to wax my truck in the garage.
Yesterday was the latest time that it happened. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the weather or humidity, but I am in Pennsylvania and it was roughly 84 degrees and say 69% humidity yesterday when I waxed my truck. I even set up a couple oscillating fans in the garage to try and stay somewhat cool. After I was done waxing, I even directed the fans toward the truck for approximately 30 minutes or so in hopes that it would speed up the wax drying process. It did not seem to make much of a difference though. The wax was still tacky and never dried to a white haze. So I just decided to wipe it off like I had done the other 2 times this year.
Yesterday I was applying ColorX by G100. About 2 months ago I had used #66. The first wax of the year was towards the end of winter when we had a couple of nice 50+ degree days and I had used #21. I even let the #21 sit over night closed up in the garage, but the wax looked no different in the morning than it had the night before. That time I just attributed the problem of the wax not drying to the colder temperatures.
I just do not understand it. Having used 3 different waxes with the same result of the wax not completely setting up, I would not think it is a problem with the wax, especially considering I have used these same bottles of wax in the past on my truck with no problems.
I just do not know what the problem could be? It never happened at the other house where I would always wax the truck outside (no garage). Really frustrating.
It is not the greatest picture, but here is a picture of my truck sitting in the garage last night as I was waiting (and hoping) for the wax to set up.
