  • old wax removal

Yesterday i spoke with a rep from meguiar's. My paint job is 13yr's old and he pointed me in the direction of these products for the best treatment. Deep Crystal paint cleaner, Deep Crystal Paint polish, and NXT 2.0 wax. i just purchased them all last night at a local auto parts store. My question lies with this. I just clay bared my whole car and waxed my car with meguiar's smooth surface clay kit and basic Meguiar's cleaner wax last sunday (07/13/2008). i would like to remove that wax so i can start with a clean slate for the new products. I also bought Duplicolor 2 in 1 touch up paint for some small chips and scratches that i have. What is the best way to remove the old wax? and after it has been removed, can i apply the touch up paint and after it had fully dried then use the Deep Crstal paint cleaner, Deep Crystal paint polish, and NXT 2.0 Wax? Thanks in advance for any replies, Jay Also i was reading on the back of the Deep Crystal bottles and both say to wipe on then wipe off immediatley, why is that?

The old wax that the paint has will be removed just by claying and using a paint cleaner. So with DC1 you would remove whatever coat of wax present in the surface.

The only product that Meguiar's makes that are meant to dry are the waxes, there is no point on applying a paint cleaner/polish and let it sit, you just work the product against the surface and remove. If you let it sit and dry it will be very hard to remove.

Great advice on how to remove the wax in two steps.

I also want to remove all the Meg's Deep Crystal Polish so I can start with a clean surface. How would I go about that? Would the DC Paint Cleaner accomplish removal of the polish oil at the same time it is removing any left over wax after claying?

          Sure.
If you clay and then use DC1 then you definitely would start working on a fresh surface

Thanks. I just needed to be sure to get all the Meg's polish oils out so I could try a base sealant from another manufacture and then top again with NXT - love the stuff!

I'll probably do an IPA wipe down also just to make sure.
