  • Just have a quik question about removing swirls

Ok just a loaddown on my list of meguiars stuff.
    Meguairs Deeo Cystal wash
    meguairs Clay bar kit
    Meguairs Quik Detailer
    Meguairs Cleaner Wax sample X2
    Meguairs Scratch X
    Meguairs Deep Crystal Polish system
    Meguiars Gold class Paste wax

Than the wheel and tire cleaner and interior cleaning stuff.

I got some serious swirl marks on my dads car and i got 95% but it took me like 6 times to get them out. I heard it gets gooie when used with a buffer. What in my list can get swirls out that wont take sooo long that it would with scratch X. scratch x does wonders tho =]

Get youself a quart of M105

It will work better and faster than anything else we make when working by hand. You have to buy a quart however as at this time that is the smallest bottle we offer for this product.

(It's a body shop tool, not a consumer product)

Different types of products in each line, different industries, different needs... etc.

The only thing you ahve for swirls is scratch X non of those other products will work. Do you have a machine of some sort, Porter Cable? If not it will take some stamina and heart. You can use M105 by hand (not sure how good it is by hand). Best bet is to get a polisher like the Porter cable or similar.

Not goin to touch your car for the win comment.

Re: Just have a quik question about removing swirls

Well, thats kind of an open ended question. The thing is that all of the lines have a purpose, and most products are a little different, it isn't as if one is a low end product. All are designed for a specific purpose. I, and many others on here will have products from all of the lines, depending on what you are looking for. Its not an either/or situation. It just comes down to what kind of product are you looking for. And of course some of the bulk sizes can make things a bit more cost efficient.

Working by hand to get rid of swirls, M105 is best it seems. (haven't gotten to try mine yet).

It could be said very very generally that the Consumer Line is meant for hand use, and tends to be hard to screw anything up with.

The Pro-Line tends to be for working on paint with different machines, but some can be used by hand, and there are also a few things like soaps, dressings. Lot of focus on body shops.

The Detailer Line tends to cover products that a pro-detailer, working on a lot of cars would need to have, and in bulk to help keep costs down. Things like washes, easy to use waxes, interior cleaners, glass cleaners, dressings, spray detailers, etc.

So that probably doesn't help you a whole lot, but if you know what you are looking for, you can pick and choose what you want. All will work together.

Re: Just have a quik question about removing swirls

Wash - Sorry.... #00 is for wetsanding, and is very expensive for washing. If you want the Pro-Line, go to #62. Of course Gold Class is pretty close, and often cheaper.

Clay - The mild clay is fine, though it is a lot of it if you need that much. Remember that is only the clay, so you would need to buy a lubricant of some sort, :QD, Last Touch, Final Inspection.

Clean - #105 would be good for removing swirls, but just something like DC#1 is ok for cleaning by hand on a good finish. Then you may also look at #80 for general cleaning if you were to get the G110.

Polish - The top of the line pure polish is #7. #80 is kind of the general use cleaner/polish.

                          Wax - I would go with Nxt 2.0, or #21 2.0.

Maintenance - I like UQD for after washes, which is like #135. As far as claying, bird **** removal, I think Final Inspection is pretty popular, and I believe is diluted 1:1 for claying. Course you need to buy the spray bottles as well then.

                          Hope that helps a bit....

Re: Just have a quik question about removing swirls

Well, it is hard to say it will work for every single car and every single situation.

But a good quality cart wash (and towels/ponges, Grit Guards, etc), and clay will always be good.

As far as the paint cleaners and cleaner/polishes, that is where the pro's will sometimes have to play with different pad and product combinations. I dont believe the #105 is recomended for G110 use at the moment, so you would be looking at products like #80 and #83 for cleaning/polishing. And between those two products, yes, you will see a big improvement on most cars, but still no gaurantees on all.

As far as the cleaners like #105, DC#1, and then #7 as a polish, those will do the best you can do by hand.

And of course a high quality wax will look good on any car.

But then as I said, you also have things like glass cleaners, all purpose cleaners, tire shine, trim dressing, metal polish, wheel cleaners, carpet cleaners, odor eliminators, towels, applicators, etc that also help to make the list look huge. But if you figure it is a 5-step process, you only actualy need 6 products for a solid general detail.
