I'm hoping you guys can help so I won't have to get my trunk repainted.
Yesterday, I debadged my Audi A4's trunk of its badges. I didn't use a heat gun or hair drier as it was warm enough from sitting in the sun all day. I used some fishing line and got all the badges off just fine. I then used Goo Gone (Automotive Formula) to remove the goo which actually took a while longer.
During that step, I noticed there was a ring around the adhesive that I removed. It wasn't around the outline of the badges but the actual adhesive backing. I could feel it step down into the badge area from the outside clear coat also. I washed and waxed these parts but to no avail.
Now when I look at it, I can see an outline of the badges and this doesn't help me with the "debadging" of the car.
Here's a picture of what it looks like:

Anyone have any idea how to fix this or even how this happened? Thanks!
