  • Okay to wash after compounding but before wax?

    Hey guys...

Always wondered what the "correct" answer is to this. Is it okay to wash a car after "cleaning the paint" (#83, #80, etc) but before putting wax on. I was wondering because I am not the guy that has the patience to tape off everything and I would find it easier to just wash before waxing.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hey Ryan,

Good news is you're not alone. Majority of the weekend detailing buddies here wash the vehicle after doing compounding/polishing to rid of the compound dust, splatter, etc..

But washing with those wash n wax products (refering non Megs) - we prefer to stay away from them. Just want the surface cleaned.

    Hope this helps

I have been doing that for over 19 years!

I'm going to give that a try next time, never did it. Seems like it would work good.
