  • Cleaning exterior between washes

    Hi, all,

I have been looking over many of the Meguiar's products, videos, etc. and have a question.

I washed my (black) car on Sunday. Monday morning it was gleaming. By Monday afternoon, there were a few bug splats, etc.

The question is, what would be the best way to clean these off without rewashing. Of course the bug remover would seem to be ideal, but, the real question is, would I then need to use something like a quick detailer after?

    Cheers!

    Is this a daily driver?

Is it parked outside at least part of each day?

Ultimate Quick Detailer. I have a bright red commuter and I use this product at least three times a week.

        +1 for Quick Detailer!

As long as its light dust, fingerprints and smudges. Any of the qd products will do the job. I would echo the sentiments for Ultimate Quik Detailer on your black car.

Before using the quick detailer, I am thinking of using the California Duster, to remove the dust and prevent scratching the surface... thoughts?

I used to use them but after hanging here, I would think and my theory only, that the particles would stick to the ends of the strings and then you'll be dragging them all over the paint instilling swirls.

My thought only. I use UQD if the dust isn't too bad, I live in a pretty rural area and the UQD is not used a lot just wash once a week or so.

I think before quik detailing you'd better use a wool duster, not california duster.
The wool duster collects dust using the static electricity.
Above all, you should inspect the paintwork surface if there is any grit causing the marring.
