  • I washed 2 car yesterday, today I saw scratches :(, I need help using ScratchX

well today I washed 2 cars using the Meguiar's Mitt + Meguiar's Gold Shampoo, then I dried using the Meguiar's Chamois and to finish I used the Meguiar's Magnet Chamois. I was using the Meguiar's Endurance today and I noticed on the driver's door some scratches , I will post picture below:

I don't know what I did wrong, I used the 2 buckets systems, I believe those scratches are there as a result of me washing the car yesterday cause I had not noticed the scratches before I washed the car yesterday. as I said I did everything right and I still got those scratches, any idea what did I do wrong?

There are 2 more little (but those are ''deeper'' ones) that I noticed today, I will take picture and post here.

My doubt is, can ScratchX at the same time remove those scratches and not damage the painting of the car? If so how to use it? I wash the driver's door, I dry it, then I apply the ScratchX on a Meguiar's X2020 Supreme Shine Microfiber and rub til the scratch is done? does it require a lot of strengh to do? If anyone has a video of someone using the ScratchX the right way let me know plz.

ty guys, hope you guys can help me once again

This wasnt the first time giving a proper washing?

And a minor swirls or 4 from washing should be fixable with ScratchX.

Let me look for a video....

        ty vm for the video,

this is the first time using the Meguiar's stuff to wash the car, I and a guy who works in my house Saturdays have washed the car like 20x before using ordinary products. Ty vm for the video, but it's a dvd sample, it's like 1 minutes out of 13 minutes, they ask me to buy the dvd.

It should cover enough to help you I think, at least as far as how Mike works the product in.

Those are odd looking scratches to have been caused by washing, unless in the process of removing the heaviest of the dirt from the vehicle you picked something up and it was dragged over the surface. Usually the kind of marring we see from washing and drying are the typical swirls and cobwebs that most cars seem to get from using less than perfect technique or less than spotlessly clean washing/drying tools. Again, these appear to be the result of a larger piece of debris being dragged across the paint. It is also very likely that they were there prior to washing but just not visible due to the dirt on the surface, even if that was very light dirt. At that point you likely weren't looking at the surface with as critical an eye either.

In any event, of course you want to eliminate them. ScratchX can do a great job of this if you're willing to put some passion into the process. That process, as shown in the vid clip, is fairly straightforward - but it does take some effort to make it happen.

With M105 Ultra Cut Compound it would be easier and faster to remove those scratches by hand.

How To Remove a Bird Dropping Etching by Hand using M105 Ultra Cut Compound

While the above is about removing an etching, the same principal applies to removing scratches.

around the tires (in the painting) there were dust, but I washed it with lots of water before using the mitt, and I usually wash these lower parts after washing the car. I also switch the side of the mitt when I realize I used it on a dirt part. That's why I was like: ''what's wrong with me washing the car? There is no way to be a lot more careful than I am already.'' I will try the ScratchX tomorrow, I will wash the door again and apply it using the pad about 4-5x times, I hope it removes the scratch.
