  • Have I been using cleaner wax wrong?

I've been using cleaner wax for a while now but I think I might have been using it wrong, does cleaner wax have diminishing abrasives in it?
I always wiped it on like you would a wax then using some "passion" wiped it off.
I was reading somewhere that with color x you should use some passion to work in the abrasives then let dry and wipe of, is this the same for cleaner wax? Should I basically work it, then allow to dry and wipe off to get the most out of it? or is how I'm using it ok?
    Thanks!

No. For A12 and CX, just apply it like a wax (add passion if you want), let it dry, and then remove. You don't and shouldn't need passion to remove wax.

Yes colorx has diminishing abrasives. You need to work it in with some passion so it can work. Let it dry before removing.

That is a bit backward, yes. The cleaning ability comes from the passion you put into the wet product, working it against the paint. You would basically apply it the same way you would apply any other paint cleaner, except in this case you would allow it to dry to a haze and then remove. Once it has dried/hazed, treat the removal process the same as you would any conventional wax/sealant.

You also want to apply only a thin coat of wax. If it's difficult to remove you may be putting it on too heavy.

Passion applying it on, light pressure when taking it off. You might be applying a thicker coat of wax then necessary. I used to do that and taking the wax off was arduous. Only a thin coat is necessary.

              Just to chime in...

What's cool about our cleaner/waxes is you can adjust their strength by the amount of passion you use when you work the product.

For a grossly neglected car you would use our strong cleaner/wax and use more passion to apply and work the product.

For a daily driver in good shape you can use any of our cleaner/waxes and just apply them gently, you don't have to work a cleaner/wax if you don't need to. A gentle application will clean the paint and leave it polished and protected.

Gauge your passion in relationship to what you're working on and what you're trying to accomplish.

Also I've been using terry applicators, but I just bought a pack that came with a microfiber applicator, is it ok to use the microfiber or should I only use terry ones?

Match your application material with what you're trying to accomplish.

For more aggressive cleaning use cotton, for gentle cleaning, polishing and waxing then use either foam or micro-fiber.

Always test your process in a small are and make sure you can make one small are look good before going over the entire car.

Will do, I'm actually out of cleaner wax so I picked up some color-x to try instead, one thing though, I wish Meguiars would give better instructions on thier labels, both the cleaner wax and color-x state to just apply a thin layer then wipe off, no working it or anything, just to use it like wax... Still like thier stuff though!
We'll see how the color-x does
