Costco Microfiber?

Hi everyone.. I just purchased a pack of Costco Microfiber towels and its brand is Detailer's Choice that's why I thought it would be good quality.. It's relatively cheap. $8 for 12 towels.. At the clinic, we talked about "getting what you pay for" with regards to these towels but costco just sells everything at a cheaper price, right? I know it wouldn't be close to what Meguiar's would be selling. Hope to hear your feedback guys especially those who have dealt with them. Thanks!

I use them all the time and love them. Cheap,easy to get and if you get them to dirty you don't feel guilty demoting them to tire work or the rims.I would wash them before use so you don't get lint.

I tried the blank cd test with the Costco microfibers and didn't see a single scratch on the cd. I do cut the tags off though.

Well, I just bought 3 packs...

Used two, straight from the package. Horrible linting! That strange, MF linting...

Washed all three packs, still some linting, so we'll wash em all a second time...

So far, thumbs down!

But there is still hope...

Very plush, and at .75 each? I wanna make em work!

Yea some of mine took a couple of washes to clear up those MF splinters.

I use them straight out of the package also. The trick is to "snap" them a couple time to release the lint and work from there. Sometimes I get a little lint to come loose and sometimes I don't. I don't however, get any lint from these towels in use.

I bought them about a year ago. They see regular use and I have never had a problem with them. They have been washed on many occasions. The price is right too.

I've got some, they make a good general purpose towel. I use them for pretty much everything other than paint. And I agree, it takes a few times through the washer to get them really ready to go before they stop linting. There are deffinitely better micro fibers out there, but for the price it's worth having a pack or two.

Has anyone tried using this for removing waxes and polishes? what are your experiences? are they of good quality? do they scrath the finish of the car?

I use mine on the paint with no problems . I haven't had any marring yet.

I've used MF's from Wal-Mart with decent results. They're best for cleaning glass and removing polish. I save the good MFs for the final buff.

I only use the best (Meguiar's) on my personal cars but for my clients vehicles I use the Sam's Club "Detailing Solutions" 16"x16" microfibers. They work very well, don't lint and sell for under $8 a dozen. Plush, well made with good hemming, these yellow towels are great for drying or polish and wax removal. IMHO, one of the best values out there for inexpensive MF.

I bought some a while back. Had the same terrible linting problem. After 5 or six washed it stops. I don't trust them on my paint, it is a lot cheaper to buy a good towel than scratch up my paint. However that said I have found them to work great on windows and wheels if you like to wax you clearcoated wheels.

I just bought a second pack, I like them, but prewash them first.I use many MFs during a detail, as soon as one gets dirty I get another one, never use it on my car again that day, afterwards, throw everything along with applicator pads in the washing machine and air dry.
I do have a few smaller, better quality towels that I use for wax removal or interior

Given the reports of the hit or miss linting, sounds like quality control is spotty with the Costco/Wal Mart mfs. I would consider these only for "dirty jobs": door jams, underhood,etc. For me, mfs are not a product I will skimp on, I found the quality of the "boutique" online variety to be high grade and consistent every time. I suppose it's a case of paying more for peace of mind.
