I'm new to this forum, but I have been detailing cars for the past 10 years (a few years professionally back when I was younger, and more recently just as a hobby). I have almost always used Menzerna & Poorboys products, and I have always used a rotary polisher. But I got a new Meguiar's DA polisher as a Christmas gift last year, because my rotary crapped out on me after 9 years and I decided to give the DA a try since so many people seem to rave about it. I haven't really used it much yet, but just the other day I went out and bought a whole line of Meguiar's products to try out with my new DA polisher. Here is what I got:
M83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish
M80 Speed Glaze
#7 Show Car Glaze
#26 Hi-Tech Wax
#21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0
1 - W7006 pad
3 - W8006 pads
2 - W9006 pads
1 wool bonnet
The vehicle I will be working on is a 2003 Yukon Denali with minor swirl marks, and a couple of more serious blemishes (a few bird poop etchings, and a couple of scratches). My plan was to first wash & clay the truck (obviously), then use the M83 + W7006 pad on the bad spots, then M80 + W8006 over the entire vehicle, then #7 Show Car Glaze + W9006 , then either #26 or #21 + W9006 pad, then buff with wool bonnet.
Being a little unfamiliar with the current line of Meguiar's products, I decided to read up a bit in this forum to get some recommendations before diving into it. And I was surprised when I read numerous posts that talked about NOT using the W7006 pad with the DA polisher. Being the stubborn person that I am I went out and used it on a test spot on my truck to try it out (with the M83), and it seemed to work just fine and it got out a pretty nasty scratch. So can someone explain why it is not recommended to use the W7006 with the DA? I can't seem to find a real explanation, other then "it is not recommended".
Also, which is better as a FSP - #26 Hi-Tech Yellow or #21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0? And is the #7 Show Car Glaze necessary after using the M80, or will the diminishing abrasives of the M80 give it enough "pop" where I won't even need the #7? And how does my overall gameplan sound (M83->M80->#7->#21 or #26)?
Thanks in advance for helping out a new forum member!
