  • Drying your car?

What do you guys recommend for drying your vehicle after a wash? Are chamois ok? How about the synthetic chamois?

    Thanks

Some use a volume of air (Hand blower)
some use a chamois and some use a synthetic chamois
while other use the Meguiar's Microfiber Drying Towel M-9909

I have not jumped to the level of the Microfiber Drying Towel YET, But I have used the chamois and the synthetic chamois (The Absorber)
The chamois I have tired lasted about 1 year before they started to flake apart, The Absorber I have is going on 3 years now.

    Hope this helps

      AIR WAND by Detail Plus

Go to www.detailplus.com and click on AIR WAND and click on the video clip.

This is a really cool device and I really urge anyone who hand washes cars to look at it and how fast it "strips" the water off the car.

Have you ever heard of the AIR WAND which is an aero-dynmically designed wand that is attached to a 200mph blower and literally strips the water off a car in seconds, like a blower at an automatic carwash.

Not too expensive either a little over $100.

I've been using microfiber towels for about a year now, I recently ordered a couple of water magnets as I've read that WW's do a good job of absorbing water without the risk of marring your finish. It's also a good idea to spray some QD on the surface prior to drying to assist in lubricating the surface to insure that you do not induce any additional marring.

I "chase" as much water off of the car with a stream of water (not a high pressure spray.)

Then I finish up with a microfiber cloth, which I find takes fewer passes than a chamois.

I also use the MF drying towel and it works best for me. Meguiar's has replaced the M9909 with the new X2000 Water Magnet. If you never tried a MF before, you will be very impressed with the absorbency of this product.
