  • Interior Conditioning Question

I just purchased the Quick Interior Detailer Wipes and like the results. Before, I was using up the rest of some protectant wipes from another brand (two words, both start with A) and disliked the really wet, greasy residue left over. But my question is, will the Meg's QID Wipes condition the surface as well as clean, or do I need to add something else to really condition them? I don't mind a shiny look, just not that dripping, greasy look and feel from the other brand I had. Considering that I live in the blast furnace that is West Texas, I just think the interior needs some good conditioning to protect against the unforgiving sun and heat. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

    Re: Interior Conditioning Question

The new Quick Interior Detailer spray has some UV protection ingrediants in it. I am not sure if the wipes were updated as well or not. The bottle/tube should say new and and improved or something similar in a red square if it is.

But, using an actual dressing would still offer more protection. I tend to use Nxt Tech Protectant, but it is one of the shinier products. Natural Shine, or something like #40 from the Professional Line should be a bit less shiny. Also, whatever product you use, after you apply it, let it set for 5-10 minutes, then come back and wipe off excess to cut down on the shine.

Our QID wipes were improved for 2008 to provide more UV protection and a longer lasting scent

Modern plastics are a lot more durable than the plastics used in the 60's, 70's and even 80's, you don't see dashes cracking like they use to back in these decades. Besides that glass blocks out some UV rays also.

If you want to make sure your interior vinyl is cleaned, conditioned and protected then it's probably a good idea to use a regular dressing periodically and then maintain using QID

You can find a list of our interior dressings by visiting www.meguiars.com and visiting the store or call Customer Care and as for a Catalog.

Here's a list of your options...

Natural Shine Vinyl & Rubber Protectant
      Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant
      NXT Generation Tech Protect
      Gold Class Protectant Wipes
      M40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner

Out of all of these, Natural Shine and M40 tend to be the most popular among our loyal customers. M40 has been around for 25 to 30 years and Natural Shine has been around for at least 20 years. Not that being around for long time proves a product is good but it is an 'indicator' that it's working because it's an indicator that people are buying it a second time, a third time a fourth time, etc., and also recommending the products to their friends. It's called word-of-mouth-advertising.

        Thanks for the advice guys.

After reading about the different products that Mike suggested, I think I'm going to try the Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant. Now my next question is can I also use this product routinely on my tires? I guess I have the same expectations for my tires as I do for my interior (clean, low gloss look and good conditioning because of the harsh environment). It would be great if I could use this same product for both. Could this be the only thing I would have to use on my tires (after a good scrubbing of course) to get good results. Sorry to go from interior to tires, but it just got me thinking. Thanks again for all the help!

You could, but I dont think the results would last very long.

I like to use the All-Purpose Cleaner on my tires and the plastic wheelwells. I tend to use the Nxt Insane Shine, but on my tires it seems to stay shiny for a couple days, assuming no bad weather, then go to a nice matte black for a while.

The Gold Class Endurance Gel might be a good option for you as well.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I decided to try the Natural Shine Vinyl & Rubber Protectant last night and it was exactly what I wanted. A very nice natural, low gloss (non-greasy) finish. Perfect product for my expectations of the interior surfaces! I'm looking forward to trying it on my tires this weekend! Thanks again for the advice.

It will work fine on your tires, it will give the rubber a nice dark sheen instead of a nice dark shine.

I really like the GC Dashboard trim. It adds a really nice gloss that isn't gawdy to look at. I've even used it to top my leather surfaces after applying GC leather conditioner. Is this something that is not recommended?
