  • Prep for # 20 sealant

Ok this is what I a going to do DC #1 cleaner followed by either by one of these polishes #3, #7 or # 81 then topped by 20 polymer sealant.

    > All this will be done by hand

then in three months was going use # 20 sealant again

in three more months it will be six months since good cleaning so will go with Meg's DC #1 again pure polish then # 20 sealant.

of course maintain with weekly washes with most likely # 62 car wash.

    Hey Mongo,
What color is your car? is it clear coat or single stage? Reason I ask, if it's a new car, especially a ligther colored car, after clay and #1, you should maybe polish a small section then stand back and take a look, does it look deeper or "wetter"? If so, do the entire car, then 20, if it doesn't seem to help, you can save yourself a step and go right to 20. It's got some cleaning ability, so not sure your not cleaning the polish off?

Anyways, if you wanted to take it a step further, after the 20 has cured, top it with 26. 26 being a pure wax, will only improve on the look and not remove the 20.

      Mongo,

Your process looks fine and Tom's advice is dead on.

Yes the cars in question are clearcoated vehicles.

The vehicles are are in better hape than others so will tweek the process accordingly.

The Color of the vehicles are Tan, White and Champaign Metallic its a gold color a 1990 Cadillac Deville they need to bring that color back its terrific.

Re: Prep for # 20 sealant

          Mongo,
The reason I suggested doing a test spot with the polish was, if it was a newer car and the paint is in good shape, especially a bc/cc vehicle, then polish may not be so effective, atleast not worth the extra step, that's why I suggested doing a fender or something and then stepping back to take a look at it. If it's older, dark, or if it's ss paint, then polishing it can definately make a difference.

          20 is good stuff!

OK I was going to order the stuff from ADS and get he 12oz. bottle of # 81 to try out.

            I have used DC #2

Pro side #5, #7, amd #9 polishes so I know what to expect.

Meguiars waxes sealants have used DC #3

Pro side # 26 ,#21 and a little of # 20 just enough to remember how easy it is to work with and should give 3-4 months of durability.

            thanx mongo

OK should have asked this previously does # 20 sealant mute metallic flakes.

Also I am thinking of getting a buffer if I did it would be a Meg's GS110 because from what I have read they reworked the motor so it vibrates less and adjustable handle looks good as well.

              regards mongo
