Polish you should apply to a small area, then remove.

Cleaner/Wax you should apply to the whole car, let dry, then remove.

What are you trying to work on... those two products would not normally be used together?

In the Meguiar's line of surface care products, the only paint care products you let dry before wiping off are our waxes, that includes liquid, paste and spray-on waxes.

All other paint care products are applied, work-in and over the surface and then wiped off. Letting non-wax products dry adds no benefit to the paint and just makes wipe off hard.

Also, because this is a topic of confusion... there's a thread about it in the Hot Topics forum.

Which products need to dry before removing?

            Yes.

The idea being to allow the protection ingredients to dry before wipe off. There's no way to wipe of the cleaning and polishing ingredients without also wiping off the protection ingredients, so with a cleaner/wax the protection ingredients determine wipe off and wipe-off is after the product dries.

What's nice about most cleaner/waxes, at least ours, is that they tend to dry fast and wipe off easily.

I'm not sure there would be any benefit of using a polish followed by a cleaner wax over a polish followed by a normal wax such as NXT.

              Are you working by hand?
              What polish are you using?

Meguiar's recommends applying polishes first and then after wiping off the residue applying a wax.

Some people use our cleaner/waxes for their cleaning ability and then polish and apply a non-cleaning wax.

Some paint types accept pure polishes better than others, for example most single stage paints accept the polishing oils better than most clear coat paints, has to do with porosity, or density of the film.

Re: cleaner wax and polish question

I just tried liquid cleaner wax with rotary speed 1000, sprayed a bit water on the green polishing pad, the results is good. minor scratch and swirl is removed (not 99% perfect). I just made 2 passes.
