  • ...NXT or #16 ...... ???

Just curious, What will give me better protection, M-16 or NXT ?
I like to wax my truck about every 6 to 8 weeks. And we all know
How hard 16 can be to remove. I have used NXT the last few times
I have waxed. And I must say it is a pure joy to apply and remove.
I can do it in about one forth the time it takes me to wax using 16.
So if the protection is about the same…….goodbye M-16

    Thanks……..BG

M16 is a formula created on or before 1950 as it was introduced in 1951

It was the first wax Meguiar's introduced.

NXT is brand new technology, M16 is 57 year old technology. Our chemists have stated that our best protecting wax formula is the NXT Tech Wax 2.0

M21 is in the same category as NXT, that is it uses the same protection ingredients.

M16 is a great wax but our chemists state that the protection ingredients in NXT will slow down deterioration and attack against the paint better than our other waxes and that would include M16

    Hope that helps...

To add gloss, depth, and clarity I recommend topping the car with #26 paste wax or liquid wax after topping the car with NXT. Since the NXT is a sealant, I recommend waiting 24hrs so the sealant will bond with the paint. Then afterwards, you can apply #26.

Why not apply #26 first, then apply the sealant. That way you can lock in #26

But wouldn't that be layering? I find it hard to believe if you put a wax or sealant over another wax or sealant its actually locking in or covering that first coat. That would be considered layering wouldnt it?

Just as a side note. I put #16 beside of NXTv2 and didnt notice one lasting longer than the other. My Jeep sat in a dorm parking lot for around a month without being washed but was sprayed off using rinse water at a coin-op a few times. The beading of both stopped around the same time. All beading was gone after 2 months.

Simple -- Do what Mike and Tim suggest. Two coats of NXT -- period. The second to insure good coverage. I know darn well that I get good coverage with one coat. I do one application every six weeks or so. Sometimes longer. You may get some layering effect with a pure carnauba like #16 but it most certainly does not change the appearance. Besides that, #16 is a real PIB to apply and remove. I should know -- I used it almost exclusively for over twenty years.
