  • Hot To Restore Rubber on Window Mouldings

Greetings all. I am a newbie to the site and I do use a few of the Meguiars Products. I have an 04 Grand Prix. On the windows on the doors there is a rubber moulding the goes all around them - both top and bottom and left and right- They have for a lack of a better term spots on them. I have used everything from scratch x, to car soap, to back to black from another competitor to get rid of these and its just not happening.

Recently, I had body work done on the car, it was just last week, I asked the body shop what they thought and they said it was the rubber failing due to uv rays and that there wasnt much I could do outside of replacing the rubber mouldings.

Today, I bought the Meguiars Exterior Detail Spray and I didnt get to using it but this is my last hope unless someone on this message board has another idea for me to use.

Thanks for taking the time to read my short inquiry and I look forward to all the replies.

Are the spots powdery-white, or waxy and yellowish-brown?

well im not sure if i quite understand what parts you are talking about but, if its an exterior rubber/vinyl you coun try something like Meguiars Heavy Duty Vinyl cleaner
http://www.meguiars.com/?pro-vinyl-r...-Vinyl-Cleaner this seems to help clean up lots of exterior black. If you could get some pics for us that would be a great help too.

Try cleaning them with some apc or #39, Then give it some #40. This may help some. Its hard to tell without pics.

I have used the Gold Class Trim Detailer with sucess on the trim around my windsheild wipers and if you're on your last attempts it might work. Here is the link to it http://www.meguiars.com/?car-trim-mo...-Trim-Detailer

I've even seen it as some autoparts stores for a comparable price and in your situation it might be worth a try. Let us know if you figure it out or post some pictures and we might be able to help some more.
