  • Decent Electric Pressure Washer?

    Is there such a thing?

I've been wanting to pick up a pressure washer for washing the Jeep as well as use around the house. Washing the siding etc. I really don't think I would use a gas one very much just because I don't want to have it running all the time. The electric idea seems nice, it's off then when you need it on it's on. I don't think I need very much pressure. I know the flow is pretty low on electric models but I don't know if that's a big deal for me.

I almost bought a Husky one from Home Depot this weekend but decided to go online and read some reviews first. Glad I did. On the Home Depot website one was rated 1.5 stars and the other model was rated 1 star out of 5.

    Any info would be great!

      BlueZero,
I went through 3 Karcher electric models in 3 years, will never own another one. This last time I bought a Campbell Hausfield 1800 PSI from Presure Washers Direct and love it, so far, so good. It got High marks on their reviews as well...

Nothing wrong with a Triple plunger pump pressure washer. It'll long outlast most of the gas models (save the triple plunger pump style) and it'll certainly outlast all the cheap electric PW's.

I bought mine form Northern Tool. I think it was 2750psi and 2.5GPM. Downside is that it's 230 volt. Works great for anything I may need to do. Has a valve on it which allows you to turn down the pressure for working on cars.

Why not just get a gas pressure washer? The idea of electricity and water just seem bad to me.

I bought a "used" pressure washer off Craigslist for $140 and it's a Briggs & Stratton 2550 PSI. Will clean off a driveway, remove old paint from brick and anything else I need to do.

                BZ,

I am currently using a Karcher (given to me by my brother-in-law), so I don't have the exact model number handy (I'll see if I can post it later).

It is okay (at best). I haven't had any problems with it (and I don't use if for my cars), it is just that I don't think it cleans all the well.

I have two nozzle attachements, one for very high pressure one you can regulate which also dispenses soap. The high pressure nozzle is much better and I use it to clean my concreate walks and other brick and stone. HOWEVER, the manual specifically says not to use this nozzle on siding (which is what I really need it for) because the other attachment does NOT clean the siding (enough).

So, on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 5. I'll post the model later.

Thanks for the info so far! I'll have to check out that Campbell Hausfield one. I thought I saw one of those at Menards the other day.

As far as the gas idea. They seem to be an overall better choice but I just don't think I would use it as much at an electric one. I guess I just figure it's easier to plug one in then to have to start it and I figure it's not as loud running. Maybe I'll end up going that way in the end but for now I'll keep looking for an electric model.

As for using to to wash a car, the Campbell Hausfield has way more than enough power, I never use it at full strengh and it really saves water. I use mine for small jobs around the house and for washing cars in conjunction with my CR spotless water system.

Just make sure it's UL listed. No problemo.

Looking at the price of a 1800 PSI C.H washer (200 on everypressurewasher.com) just re-affirms the fact I'll be buying a camspray when the time comes. Last one I'll ever need to buy I'm sure.

But even if you went though 5 of the CH one's it would still be cheaper!

I'm all for buying the better product once than buying a poor quality multiple times. For right now I'm just not sure I would use it enough to justify the cost.

I'll admit, now you have me checking craigs list for a used camspray.

I want one.. but money is tight right now. oof.

I got the Husky 2000 @ Home Depot about a month ago & have had no problems with it. I think I paid $159 for it. It does a decent job of cleaning the driveway, siding, etc. I haven't tried it on the car yet.

What is so special about a CamSpray pressure washer? I see they are very "proud" of their items, but what is going to give you 10x's the value by having a CamSpray Vs. DeWalt or Honda (for example only)
