  • Dust Removal

I just purchased a new 08 car. It is black in color with a clear coat finish. Last weekend I used Meguiar's Paint cleaner, polish and finally the NXT wax. WOW WOW!! It looks even better than when it left the showroom and I received at least 3 comments about the finish on it.

My question is this, after about a day or two, litlle pieces of dust etc. attach to the surface. Do you remove this with a dust cloth? If so, what kind and where do I find it?

Or do you guys just suggest using the quick detailer?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Re: Dust Removal

Well, some people will use the California Dusters. Others will use Quick Detailer, or one of the related spray detailer products (Ultimate Quick Detailer, Nxt Speed Detailer, Last Touch, Final Inspection, #135), and a MF cloth to wipe the car down.

Either way, they are both recomended for light dust only. Since there is no exact definition for what that means, and my car is a daily driver, outside all the time, I just wait to wash it.

      Re: Dust Removal

To deal with dust from driving or pollen this time of year I usually use a california duster first followed by your Quick Detailer of Choice and a soft Microfiber. It's important that you do not use the Microfiber or duster when the car is dirty due to rain, mud etc.

My trick for this light dust is pretty much the same as MBZ 500E's. I first use Meguiar's Adjustable Body Duster to remove the dust and then follow with Quik Detailer and microfiber. I never use any cloth directly on the dust.

            Re: Dust Removal

I use Last touch on the wifes car. On mine I use #135. This is for light dust removal only. Then whenever its too dirty the best remedy is a good wash.
