  • New car paint fix up

Oh so long story short, i accidentally swiped some garbage truck with my mom's 2008 honda accord and it left a dent on the fender.

I took it to a colors on parade mobile dent place to remove the dent.

Turns out, the person had to repaint my whole fender in order to get the paint to match, i thought he was gonna just blend the part that was fixed. He also touched up my front bumper from some minor paint scratches.

So heres the thing. I noticed that the fender is not as smooth as it should be, one part of it feels like there might be paint overspray ( i'm not sure if im using the correct terms). Other part of the fender looks like it got one of those buffer swirls, but for the most part it looks great, but not as great as the original factory stuff. The paint looks a bit more dull and not as shiny as the fender that was not damaged. This goes as well for the bumper, i can look at it and tell its not as shiny.

I've already orderd #80, DC#2, #7, and some other shop safe pro stuff from from meguiar to get ready to make the bumper and fender shine again (spent about 100 bucks to buy all the meguiar products).

I already know you can't wax for at least 30+ days. Sorry if this seems a bit long. I would rather not bring the car back to the place again.

So my questions is, since it is fresh paint (about 4 days old now). Can i clay bar the part of the fender that was not as smooth? And if i can, can i also use DC#1 to correct some of the paint? I was reading around the forums (read over 50 posts) but i didn't see a conclusive answer as to whether it is safe to use these 2 while the paint is still curing.

Yes, you can clay, and the DC#1 or the #80 would be fine to use.

Do you think i can make the parts that are somewhat dull as shiny as when i first got the car? The repaint made the parts painted look a bit less shiny than the original.

Also, can i use #34 final inspection as lubricant for my clay bar? or should i just use quik detailer as lube for the new paint?

You can use either product to clay, no problems there.

As far as shining the paint up, it depends what the reasons are. Hopefully it is just dull because of swirls, overspray, etc. Those can certainly be removed. If it is something physicaly different with the paint, then you might not get an exact match.
