  • New Paint and post clay bar

I have a 1931 Ford Model A streetrod and it was just recently painted. I used the clay bar on it today and was wondering what's next.

I have seen the 5 step process, but since my paint is new do I need to put the polish on it before the wax? I have NXT to ready to use. Thanks.

Well, if you feel the paint is dirty, you can use a mild paint cleaner. A pure polish would be optional, but esp on a dark color would help give a wetter look and deeper reflections. And then 2 coats of Nxt of course... or Nxt 2.0 if you can get it.

If the paint is really new like less that 60 days dont wax it just yet, the solvents in the paint are still slowly drying and if they get stuck behind wax they could cause pinholes in the paint. But if not Id do what he said.

The paint has been on about three months. It's not dirty. I have NXT 2.0, just bought it yesterday with the clay. I have always used Gold Class for years and thought I would swith to the NXT.

The car is silver, so that is the reason Iasked about the polish too, because I had seen here where the polish really helps darker colors.

Then I think you can wax, polish does help dark paint colors but you can make silver pop. An example of this is Tim's aka 2hotford silver Corolla, he's taken it do an incredible state (but I think he uses Machine Glaze with a rotary), maybe he can chime in
