  • Leafblowing the car dry??

    Hi All,

I was curious about this procedure. Most people here use a leafblower to dry a car before detailing it. I'm concerned because the wind produced by a leafblower is pretty strong therefore it is more likely for the wind to pick up dirt/dust and make it fly back to the car's paint surface. The next step will be claying so the clay will pick up the dirt and scratch the car, no?

    What's everyone's opinion on this?

If you can find one of these at your local Big Lots buy it. It works great on blowing out the water in between the doors, mirrors and wheels. Its used for drying of your vehicle's.

I use a cheap little one i got at Walmart for the engine bay and occasional drying of the vehicle and never had any problems. Just don't aim it at the ground and you should not have any problems with blowing dust everywhere. Also if you want, the cheaper ones are usually alot weaker to so they don't have the power to really blow everything all over the place but they still do a great job at drying the car. The only bad thing about this technique is if you are using hard water then air drying the car will not prevent water spotting instead it will cause water streaking. But as long as you are still going to throw in a cleaning step or claying then it doesn't really matter

I dont want to use one on mine, I'd be concerned about the dirt particles, dust, etc.

I usually just take the nozzel off the hose, and drench the car, so that the water sheets off, and then get the big water spots with a household towel, and go back for the rest of the water with a MF

I've always wanted to try one but never have. Sounds like an excuse to get one now.
