  • Will using DC #2 and #7 be redundant?

Hi everyone. Tomorrow I'm planning an entire day dedicated to the car. I was going to do a 4 step process after washing.

    1. Paint cleaner
    2. Deep Crystal #2 polish
    3. Show Car Glaze #7
    4. NXT 2.0

My question is, is it pointless to do BOTH steps 2 and 3 above, or will it actually help? I have a DARK blue Audi (2007) and I really want a deep, rich wet look. Oh, and sorry if this is the wrong board, only my 3rd post!

It's not necessary to do DC2 and #7, just do one.
Do you have both products? Have you clayed before?

I was going to say, skip DC #2 and clay your car after washing, the overall result will be better than the redundance of two polishes.

I say drop DC#2 for no other reason than I use #7 which I think gives a better "wet looking" shine.

Thanks for the quick reply, guys. I was not planning on claying since my paint is smooth already and I will be using the paint cleaner.

I have some MINOR swirls in the paint so I was hoping DC #1 would clear those up and remove any contaminants. Sound like a decent plan or should I change it up?

Well if you don't feel your paint rough then I guess you don't have to clay.

          You can:
          Wash
          Dry
          DC1
          #7
          NXT 2.0

Just to say, if you have (or can buy) a kit like Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit, then give it a try on the hood, see the clay and if it stays the same just store the clay and continue with DC1, but if you see the clay is removing those contaminant then clay the entire vehicle. Cars can trick you, you can see them fine, feel some parts great and when you clay you see what the clay is pulling and you just ask yourself how!

I will give it a feel with my hand and see how the surface is. I have a clay kit, but unfortunately it's not Meguiar's but it'll have to do for now.

I get excited for days like this. Probably gonna spend 8 hours on the car. 6 for cleaning and 2 for staring!

Thanks for all the help, I'll post pics in the latest detail section once I'm done.

Yeah, if you havent clayed before, it may be worth trying.... I certainly thought I knew what a smooth finish was, then I found out after I clayed.

And if you throw it in a zip-lock bag with a squirt of detailer, the clay will last for you just fine.
