  • Clarbar question

I thought I read somewhere that the claybar will remove wax from the paint. I just wanted to confirm that this is true...

I'm hoping to wax the car this coming weekend (provided it doesn't rain again). I need to use a claybar to clean the paint. It's not really bad but does have bits stuck to it.

I've still got wax on there from last fall and I want to make sure it's removed with this claybar.

There's no scratches or swirls so I guess I can skip the cleaner wax. I'll post some pictures of the final result.

Yes a claybar will remove any remaining wax you have on your car and will remove bonded contaminents from your clearcoat. Your paint will feel as smooth as glass when you are done.

Yes it will remove all above surface bonded contaminants including your wax.

        Re: Clarbar question

I don't think there is an actual answer as to if 100% of the wax is removed. Any wax down in the imperfections certainly would remain.

        But thats not important.

Between claying and cleaning, all the dirt will be removed. I think the key for you is that claying and cleaning are not the same. Claying removes above surface contaminants. Cleaning removes dirt/contaminants from the pores/imperfections. If you want the surface perfect, you need both.
