I am looking for a machine polish and wax. Also something to use on the dash (plastic). I am going to detail my neighbors car and want to make it shine
Well to start off i would like to say Welcome to Meguiar's Online. With a company like Meguiar's that offers so many great products your question is a little vague and i would like to ask what your over all goal is? I know for interior cleaning Megs APC is a great product and for the protection and shining many people like #40 Vinyl & rubber cleaner/ conditioner or NXT Tech protect which is another good product that i like and they leave behind a great shine. Are you looking to do any paint correction ( remove below surface defects, swirls or scratches) or just a pure polish and then wax? Also what will you be working with a machine or by hand if machine what kind orbital, DA polisher, Rotary? You are going to want to inspect the paint to see what kind of work will be needed. Make sure to inspect the paint after a good wash and see if it needs to be clayed by running your hand over the clean surface and it should feel like glass if it has more of a sand paper feel or you can still feel little particles then it needs to be clayed. You will also want to see if there are any swirls or scratches you would like removed. Here is how the system would look
1. Wash - Make sure to use a good quality soap like megs Gold Class car wash as it offers a perfect mixture of lubricity and cleaning ability and leaves behind a great shine. Also look into using the 2 bucket method with a good 100% lambswool mitt.
2. Clay - To remove above surface bonded contaminants. You can use a Product like the Smooth Surface Clay Kit that comes with everything needed to clay the vehicle including the Quick Detailer for the clay lubricant and a Supreme micro fiber. This will also help with the over all goal to make the paint shiny and to help the wax better cure to the paint.
3. Clean - To remove below surface defects. Depending on the condition of the paint this may or may not be necessary like the claying process but if you do find light oxidation, swirls, scratches or any other below surface defects then this is a necessary step. Depending on the severity of the defect you will need something like DC1 Paint Cleaner which is good for a very light cleaning. If the defects are more severe then you will need to look into ScratchX or maybe even machine polishing with products in the Mirror glaze line like #80 speed glaze which is a great product to have on hand and there are more aggressive cleaner/ polishes and compounds for even more severe defects and another big contributor is the paint hardness.
4. Polishing - This is also a optional step but i highly recommend using a good pure polish only because it does replenish lost oils and help bring out that deep wet look. If you use a product like #80 and others that have a decent amount of polishing oils in them than you can stay with that. If you will still like to add a pure polish to get a little bit more shine i would recommend either DC 2 polish, #7 Show Car Glaze or #81 Hand Polish
5. Waxing - This will be an important and needed step to protect the paint from the harsh environment we drive in today. You will want to invest in a good quality wax like Megs NXT Gen 2.0 and to insure good even coverage apply 2 coats waiting about 6 to 12 hours between applications to give the polymers appropriate time to cure, the 6 to 12 hours period is a recommendation but not a must. I hope this helps. What kind of car will you be working on and do you know if it is a single stage or a clear coat paint? Sorry for all the questions but this will also aid in future poster so they can narrow down their recommendations

Thanks guys
If you like the clean look check out Megs Quick Interior Detailer or Natural Shine. I think QID leave a real clean look and Natural shine will bring back that new shine look.
