  • Removing oil and water stains

Im in the process of detailing my truck, and color sanding the panels that I repainted. Im using 2000 grit wet and the Solo system. My problem is the panels that are still factory (hood and doors). The hood inparticular has what looks like oil on it and some heavy water spots. I washed it a few times and tried a machine glaze with no luck for either problem. Could I use m86 the solo compound and a wool pad on the hood to remove these defects? Then follow it up with the foam pad. Basically follow the same steps as if I had just wet sanded it. Or should I just lightly wet sand the hood and panels anyway since Im wet sanding the rest. Id try a clay bar but there isnt one available locally and Im trying to finish for a cruise tommorow night. (really no big deal though). Just trying to work with what I have.

When talking about waterspots what type are you referring to?
type 1 - above surface mineral deposits
type 2 - below surface etching?
Check this thread out by Mike Phillips. Its a great thread to learn about water spots and how to remove them

Just wanted to ask, do you have any pics showing this oil look? Also when you said you tried a machine glaze what product are you referring to and are you working with a DA or Rotary?
