  • Polish and Waxes

Ok have 3 cars all in excellent condition, all have wax on them. If I want to try to make them look even better can I polish over the wax? will it help? or what should I do. Cars are smooth and clean.

    Re: Polish and Waxes

Polishing oils are not protective or durable, so they would rinse right off in the rain, in addition to possibly disrupting the wax you already have there. The polish should be under the wax.

What sort of steps did you do so far on the cars?

You could read these links a bit as well if you are new so they stay in good condition.

Murr is correct and you should give some of those threads a glance to get a good understanding of everything and while you can polish over the wax its not recommended only because it wont last unless its sitting in a garage and never rained on and you are rubbing on the surface of the wax which will remove some of the wax protection. It is best if done prior to waxing so you can seal in the oils and maintain that look for a longer period of time. The process should look like this
      Wash
      Clay
      Clean
      Polish
      Wax
Remember some of those steps such as claying and cleaning are options that you will need to evaluate the paint prior to doing. If you decide the paint is as smooth as glass and doesn't need to be claybared and it has no below surface defects so then it wont need to be cleaned so you can skip that step as well. Polishing is also a optional step but you will gain from it due to it replenishing the paint with lost essential oils bringing back that deep wet look shine. ok well i hope we were of some help
