  • Detailing 101.. if you want customers, make sure your vehicle is clean and detailed!

I was out in the Mustang the other day and stopped at a convenience store to get a bottle of water. A white van owned by a "mobile detailer" had pulled into the parking lot and parked two spaces over from my Mustang. His company name and logo were on the sides and rear doors of the vehicle.

He saw my car and approached me with his business card in hand saying that he could make my car look "1000% better than it does now" (hard to believe, since the 'Stang is swirl free and sporting 3 layers of Meguiar's #21 Professional Synthetic Sealant )

I wish I had my digital camera with me. While the van was "clean".. there were buffer trails and holograms all over it!

So true! I just saw one last night. It was shinny but full of swirls. I was thinking, I bet 99% of the general public figures his looks great and won't notice the swirls. I was thinking how funny it would be to follow him and do a 'test spot' on his ride while he's in eating lunch.

Very true. Guys at work harass me that my showcar is spotless and flawless and my daily driver looked like ****! (I took care of it last weekend).

DaGonz...very good point! As Pro's we are in the clean business and having your own ride clean is a must. While it can be hard at times when you get busy...you can use that as an excuse...if you desire to be in business for long at least! Great topic...thanks for posting it!

You should've told him to look at your swirl-free car compared to his. That would've made him think twice about giving you his card.

I would have given him my card as I pointed out the swirls to him on his vehicle stating that no it looks like you require my services !!! LOL !!!!

what did you say to him when he said that? I would of been insulted since your car probably would of looked better before than after.
