the advancement of LiPo Batteries are wonderful, it has more voltage and can last at much as 10x the duration of normal batteries that everyone is use to. The price of these batteries are not much more than normal batteries. read up on Lipo batteries.

we need one now.....being in a apt. complex sux due to no outlets around.

I don't believe it would be feasible, it couldn't sustain the power for very long. How about a small generator?

yes it would sustain power for a very long time, the advance of LiPo batteries has excelled. These type of batteries have more voltage and last as much as 10x longer and are not much more expensive than the batteries you are thinking of.

we need a cordless DA G110!!!!!!!!!!!!

Detailing has so many inconsistent aspects (paint type, defect severity, pad saturation) that I would not want to have to factor in that my machine's power is declining and being inconsistent during use (as I assume would happen with a battery).

I am all for cordless tools, as long as the cordless aspect does not directly affect results.

Until then, I'll keep throwin' that cord over my shoulder...

read up on LiPo batteries. then tell me your opinion. having two or more of these batteries will last a while.

I cannot believe Meguiars haven't made one yet. for some of us, we live in a apt. complex and cannot "throw cords over our shoulders", it would be too long for the power outlets.

            make one Meguiars......

I cannot stress enough about LiPo batteries.....read up on it. far far far far superior in terms of what batteries everyone is use to.....

Please provide me or guide me to your data and I'd love to look into it. If it is credible, I'll buy into what you are saying.

Until then, I think a generator is a lot better idea. You can use the generator for other things too, as opposed to a cordless DA.

              They do make extension cords...

One thread is enough..there are plenty of reasons that nobody makes something like the DA but cordless.

It might last forever but it can't put out the same power as a corded DA under pressure; that is the key.

So why do we have high torque cordless drills?
Should we all switch back to corded models?

This can be done and will be. It's all a matter of time.

Ask any construction crew which they prefer.....a generator or cordless tools.......
                      What would their answer be.
                      I think we know.

It's only a matter of time before one comes out. I can bet that it's being worked on right now.

                      Wink wink.

You don't use a drill for 5 hours+ at about 15 pounds of pressure on it...like you would need with a cordless DA. The cordless models and all drills are quick bursts of energy or short use. Sanders (which is basically a DA) are meant to work continuously at the same speed for hours on end.

I see your point but your talking different uses. Plus its watts vs. amps...a whole other story.

I have a very powerful drill using LiPo batteries batteries, I love it.

Last year when I was building my deck I needed to drill 20+ 1/4" or larger holes through the 6x6 posts that would hold up the deck.

The cordless lasted for one hole so I had to purchase an 8amp 1/2" corded drill to finish the job.

When it came time to attach the deck boards, again the cordless was useless. Sure maybe technology will give us the ability to have a cordless D/A but we are not there yet.
