Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
You can try Meguiar's Hot Rims Chrome Polish, here is a review that Tim aka 2hotford made, you can see it's performance and the results you'll get.

Meguiars Hot Rims Chrome Cleaner to clean
Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish works good too!
And what Yalerd mentioned the new Chrome Polish, seems to work great, haven't tried it. the wife watches my spending on new stuff. LOL. Actually we're just broke! LOL

Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
wow now, lets step back for a second here.
Notice he said "chrome clad." Chrome clad is the new thing at the stealership. Its basically plastic with shiny stuff on it and they charge a **** load and call it chrome clad. I had them on my Liberty and we have them on our Hemi, they seem to hold up great. Ive had them offroad in tons of water and mud, still look like new(some swirls).
I treat them just like the paint. I wash them with a dedicated mitt and bucket with Deep Crystal wash, Gold Class or any other car wash would be fine.
I also clean, polish, and wax them just like the paint.

Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
A MDX that I do on a regular basis with chrome clad wheels reacts best to just soap and water and a wash mitt like Jeepster04 said. They actually look better with that method then using any cleaners.

Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
Yea the chrome clad wheels are on a 08 jeep liberty i just bought...they look great now, but i was worried with them being "plastic" they would easily scratch...
I also have a Wrangler with actual chrome wheels and i use the NXT All Metal Polish on them and they look amazing, but i was afarid to use it on the clad..

Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
I did get a tip that the new 105 works great on faux chrome and aluminum trim. When I get some 105 and treat my aluminum trim with it, I'll post some pictures.

Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
Chrome clad wheels have a piece of plastic that is chromed over top of an alumium wheel.
For example, the wheels on my car are chrome clad. It's hard to tell, but they are.
The back side is the most telling. You can kinda see the plastic covering and where it clips onto the wheel. It's like a custom fit hubcap.

Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
Yea, its just a piece of plastic glued to the rim. Ive never heard of anyone trying to get one off but I would say its impossible without destroying it.
Almost all chrome rims are newer vehicles are chrome clad..Current Jeep: 2004 Jeep Liberty with stuff

Re: Chrome Clad Wheels??
So basically it's a type of wheel cover like a hubcap only less user friendly, (you can't easily take them off and replace them like a hubcap).
Obviously it's about reducing their investment in what it takes to chrome an entire wheel while still giving the look of a chrome wheel.
Since this is a plastic hubcap then it's not real chrome but instead chrome looking plastic and should be work on using products safe for use on plastic and paint, not an actual metal polish like our new Hot Rims Chrome Polish.
