  • Hazing

I was working on my first black car tonight with #80. When I was done I got what looked to be leftover #80 that wouldn't come off? Then I got some DC Paint Cleaner and that took it off. But I never noticed that on my blue car?

What could be the factors causing this?

Are you buffing in direct sunlight? Are you buffing long enough? You can use some Last Touch and a microfiber to get off residual product.

        1. Is the polisher on the 5.0 speed setting?
        2. Are you cleaning your pad often?
        3. Buffing too long?

M80 is pretty Bubba Proof, so it's probably something simple.

I have seen that before when i was working on a huge truck in direct sunlight and on a hot surface. I was working there only because it would not fit in my shop and i dint have any other options. It most likely that or you might be working the polish it to long

            Re: Hazing

I had a vehicle do that to me in the past. It was a 1990 or 1989 Saleen Mustang. Single stage paint. Nothing I did would make a difference to the paint. Everything hazed up, and would not come off. Quik Detailer wouldn't touch this haze.
Long story short, I called Rick at ADS and cried on his shoulder for a minute. His response was simple and short. 66 on the rotary with a yellow foam pad and slow speed(1000rpm). Needless to say, it worked perfectly. Left the car in pristine condition! Props to Rick!

Not sure if it was the oxidation on the single stage paint, or what. But working conditions were climate controlled and inside an indoor shop at 75 degrees.

Here's a pic of the culprit...

Hmm......what other cars are wrapped in plastic in that garage?
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.
