applicator pad

Don't know if this should go here so I will just throw it out there. When applying polish or wax, product directions used to read "Moisten the applicator pad...". Is this still standard practice? I have always done so in the past with paste wax and was always satisfied with the resulting shine. I am going to be using Meguiar's Tech Liquid this time and I want to do it right.

I like to mist the pad with final inspection . Works great everytime.
