  • noob wax questions

    Hi,
I've heard good things about NXT2.0 wax, but I have never ever used wax on my car before. If I use hyper wash, will the nxt2.0 wax compliment it?

What is better, the liquid or paste version? How much wax should I use and how do I apply them, hand applicator pad? How often do I need to wax?

Check this link out for the five step plan

    Meguiar's 5 step paint care

Then check out the List O' Links, lots of good information on that page...

    List O' Links

NXT 2.0 is a great wax, with proper paint care, it will make your car shine and slick as wet baby bananna tree's As far as frequency, it depends on the conditions the car is in. I try to at least give a good waxing every season as the winter up here in good ol' No. California is cold and wet. Others should chime in on how much they wax their car.

Usually waxes are put on thin and either by hand or with a finishing pad with a PC.

Read the 5 step though, great article.

Finishing pad would be the w9006. If you are using one of the above listed pc's.

Yes, to buff wax you should use microfiber towel.

                Re: noob wax questions

A regular wax like Nxt 2.0 is meant to be used on a prepared surface for best results. Nxt 2.0 does have a little bit of cleaners in for people who dont want to prep the paint, but certainly the more you do, the better the results.

Nappers gave you a good list of links for if you wanted to get the best results, but if you want to get down to the basics, here is a good list of products:

                1. Wash - Use a good quality wash like Hyper Wash, Gold Class, etc, mixed to the proper ratio. Two buckets is best, and good quality towels, sponges, etc.

                2. Clay - The Smooth Surface Clay kit is a very good product, it really the step that gives the best results for the time/money. I would buy an extra bottle of Quick Detialter though.

                3. A cleaner/wax such as the Cleaner/Wax or ColorX (ColorX being my favorite) Would be a great way to prep the paint before your Nxt 2.0.

                4. Wax - Nxt 2.0 would be a great way to top the ColorX to get good looks/results.

Hopefully that doesnt sound like too much work, because the results are really worth it. But ask more questions of course....
