  • Removing polishing oils from surface...

    Hi all,

I was wondering what some of you use to remove the polishing oils from the surface to verify if the swirls are really gone when you polish the paint?

I had used a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water, however I'm just wondering if there is anything better.

I noticed that even with a xenon light however, holograms never seem to be visible.

    Thanks.

Some people don't check their work as after doing this for enough years you kind of get the hang of it.

Another option would be mineral spirits, the best quality you can find.

      Hey Mike,

Obviously a Lean Mean Paint Polishing Machine like yourself would not need to check since you obviously are a master in your domain.

Excuse my ignorance, however I never really understood what mineral spirits are? Is it Acetone?

If that's the case I will stick to a mixture of alcohol/water since Acetone smells nasty and I work indoors when I polish.

Thanks for your help as always!

No, they are two different things. I believe higher grades of mineral spirits are usually odorless too, if not, you can buy odorless spirits.
