I'm loving it! The paint is soooo smooth now, I didn't have an problems with swirling before or anything like that, but still all these tips have made my truck look amazing! Thanks guys, like I said I need to get some pictures of it up, but I'm still thinking about a good place to take pictures of it at. I have a place in mind, but i'm not sure if I will be able to do it.

    Re: Good wax

Just a little update. I just got finished washing, claying, and cleaning the paint with colorx. I just put all my drying and washing towels in the wash so they will be clean when I was the truck next, then I will put on the wax. Hopefully I can get some pictures up that look good, not just driveway shots if you know what I mean.

Mechanically yes but paint wise no

I use paint cleaner, polish and wax at least 4 times a year

Well, claying glass and trim along with the paint isnt much, I mean, it is all the same gunk on all of it.

But when down in the wheels, and exhaust tips, etc, you can start getting bigger pieces of brake dust, or other flakes of metal, and other nastier stuff.

Yeah by running the clay on the rim I ment that it was really stubborn brake dust particles. Anyway I went and picked up some colorx today and I plan to put it to use tomorrow morning . So can yall tell me the steps I should take? Do I have to wait in between the steps? This is what I plan on doing.

    1. Wash the truck with deep crystal then dry
    2. Not sure if I should clay again, it has been like 2-3 weeks since I last clayed, and I don't think I got the whole truck clayed good enough
    3. If I do clay I will wash the truck again with deep crystal then dry
    4. Then I should apply the Colorx with a MF waffle weave towel, do I have to wait any time after I apply the colorx?
    5. Then do I have to wash the truck again, I guess I should
    6. Then finally I will apply the nxt 2.0 to the whole truck, minus the glass and trim of course

Hopefully I will have a very shiney and good looking truck by then

    5.

Yeah, if that is your truck in the sig then we have the exact same rims. I'll get a picture of what i'm dealing with, I can't explain it very well.

Derrickg32069, thanks for clarifying that, I've never really known what a terry cloth is, can someone link me to one? I think I will get some hotrims all wheel cleaner. I can take my clay bar and I can run it over the bad spots on the rims and black will show up on the clay bar, and some of the stuff comes off of the rim, but I can't get all of it off. And it takes a while to get just a little off.

Ouch you call my truck not maintained!!! Hahahah it really isn't that bad, i'd say it has been well taken care of for a 4 year old truck.

I figured using the microfiber pad because its white and hasn't been maintained. It's gonna need a little finesse.

But it is true that you should always start with a most mild product first and go more aggresive only as necessary.

Use a foam applicator or a microfiber pad like the one in the link that ramphonic provided. The one in the link is a microfiber pad not a Terry cloth just to clarify and the only time you will want to use a terry cloth is when you are looking to get a little more bite to remove more severe defects that a foam applicator is not able to then remember to go back over it with the foam to remove any light marks made by the terry cloth. Test a little paint cleaner on your rims after they are cleaned of course and if the cloth is still clear afterwords that means you are working on a clear coat. For cleaning rims look into the HotRims line, HotRims All Wheel Cleaner, Chrome Cleaner, and Aluminum Cleaner they all do a great job

While i'm out to get the colorx, anything else that I should look into? I have some bad spots on the factory rims of my 04 toyota tacoma. I'm not sure it they are clear coated, I linked to a picture of a truck that looks exactly like mine, except mines a little cleaner . But if you guys would like a close up of the wheels to see what were dealing with here I can provide by tomorrow.
