  • Meguiars New NXT Tech Wax

Quick question is it okay to apply meguiars yellow wax and seal it with nxt tech wax.

    Welcome to the forum.

As a rule it is not a good idea to post the same question in more than one area. It tends to get the Mods angry.

To your question... Most would suggest you apply NXT Tech Wax and seal it with #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax.

      Hey,

As for NXT and #26, I agree with jfelbab.

Also, as stated, please do not double post. I have deleted your duplicate thread out of the NXT forum.

      Thanks

My apologies for double posting wont happen again.

Back to the question, is'nt tech wax a good sealant as well so is'nt it better to seal the yellow wax with the tech wax. thats why I was thinking of applying the yellow wax and then the tech wax.

I just want to understand the products better.

#26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax is a pure wax containing no cleaners or abrasives.

Enhances the depth of your car's color. This unique professional-grade formulation blends premium yellow Carnauba wax with silicones, polymers and other specialty waxes It provides maximum high gloss protection while it actually deepens your paint color. No wonder Hi-Tech Yellow Wax is the professional's choice! Made For Professionals

NXT Tech Wax has slight cleaning agents in it to assist the polymer sealant in bonding to the paint.

Introducing Meguiar's Next Generation of Technology...Engineered Synthetic Polymers (ESP) NXT Generation Tech Wax is unlike any car wax you have ever tried before. Nothing even comes close to this amazing product. All we ask is for you to try it. If it doesn't blow you away, send it back and get a full refund. If you're planning on entering a car show or cruise or just showing off, you won't want to be without this product. Here is what this awesome product will do: Your paint will be darker and richer and the shine will be the deepest, clearest you've ever seen.
          • Our new ESP (Engineered Synthetic Polymers) technology creates a tougher, polymer bond to your paint so it can provide extreme protection.
          • Engineered to eliminate those fine scratches so you can have a flawless finish.
          • Glides on and off easily. You'll be surprised how easy it is to reveal your dazzling, new finish
Using NXT after #26 would remove some or all of the #26.

Using #26 after NXT would not remove the NXT sealant.

Some people like to follow NXT with #26 or #16 Professional Paste Wax to get the warm, deep, darkening effect that carnauba waxes provide.

•A special blend of exotic waxes
•A pure wax--contains no cleaners or abrasives
•Formulated specifically for use on finishes that are new or in excellent condition
•Provides high gloss on finished parts
•Provides exceptionally durable, long-lasting protection to cleaned and polished paint
I prefer the look of NXT Tech Wax as it is. If you are considering topping NXT with a carnauba wax do a 2'x2' patch on your hood and see if you can notice the difference. The change is very subtle.

Adding #26 or #16 over NXT will also yield slightly longer durability.

I have been using the yellow wax... now since the nxt tech wax came out I would like to try it. would you guys suggest that I use a prewax cleaner first to get rid of my 2 week old wax on it. Or would you suggest I wait until the wax wears off then apply the tech wax. The color of my car is white and its only 2 months old and I wash it every week. I was planning to wax every 4-6 weeks. Any help and suggestions is appreciated. BTW do you guys wax your windows?

The cleaning agents in NXT Tech wax would probably be sufficient to remove a previous wax.

If you haven't clayed your car I'd do that and then apply the NXT.

I've read that a polymer sealant should always be applied to a clean surface in order to allow for proper bonding to the surface. Wax can be applied over top of a polymer sealant with no problems, but not the other way around.

I've read that putting a wax down first and then a sealant is not a good idea as the polymer sealant won't bond as well to the paint. For those with the technical knowledge, is this correct? Again, the above is what I've read in several forums.

I guess it also brings up the question of can someone use a pure polish like #7, #5, #81, etc. before applying a sealant or would the polishing oils inhibit the polymer to not bond as strongly to the paint vs. applying the polymer sealant to a clean surface?
A great finish begins with the right start!

                  Hey,

In terms of Meguiar's products, they work together as a system. As such, there is no problem using a pure polish like #7 etc before a wax or sealant. Moreover, your wax or sealant becomes the sacrificial barrier between your paint and the elements. So, IMHO, I like to try and seal the finish with the longest lasting product which in this case is a polymer. Hence, I would suggest using the polymer to seal in your hard work and add the topper of #26, which is a blended wax, for more depth and warmth to the paint. But with the NXT Tech Wax, I tend to prefer its look on its own without the topper.

Now, with the above said, I have no idea whether mixing other brands of products with one another will affect the bonding process or not. That is why I stay within one system that has always worked extremely well for me!
