I wash the wheels and fender wells first for the exact reason mike explained. I also use a separate bucket.

I start with the body then go to my wheels. if you do the wheels first you could have a chance at getting extra dirt on the wash mitt. then with that extra dirt or grime you could spread it all over the paint.

You should be using a separate bucket and a separate dedicated mitt though. Washing with brake dust would be...well, I don't want to think about it.

This is how I roll as well. The shear thought of using the same mitt and wash solution on the body freaks me out. I guess if you like M105 alot then have at it.

I do the wheels first.

1st......
Spray tires, wells, and rocker panels with degreaser. I also spray Wheel Brightener on the wheels now if needed.

2nd......
Spray mirrors, bumper, and windshield with APC to remove bugs.

***Remember....I've done this for a while and I'm moving fast. You might want to skip step two if you see the tires and wheels are drying with the chemicals on them. Just come back to step 2 after cleaning the tires and wheels.***

3rd.....
Pressure wash the entire vehicle from the top down. Blast the tires and wheel thoroughly. You should be ready to wash now.

First and last for me.

First step is to wash wheels and tires before tackling the rest of the car top to bottom.

Final step after all washing, polishing, waxing, trim, glass, etc is to treat the tires with Endurance Gel (current tire dressing of choice).
