  • NXT Generation Spray Wax vx Ultimate Quick Detailer

    Hi,

I have a 911 that I juse use once a week (on weekends). I use the NXT tech wax once a month but I don't know whether to use the NXT spray wax or Quick Detailer for the regular weekly maintenance? What's the difference of the two and which product should I use? Thanks.

Re: NXT Generation Spray Wax vx Ultimate Quick Detailer

Quick Detailers are meant to remove light dusting, smudges, and fingerprints. Ultimate Quick Detailer does that, as well as giving the surface a hydrophobic property, but that is all. NXT Spray wax waxes the car meaning it adds protection like a wax against actual containments such as sap, bird bombs, water spots, and so on. The spray waxes Meguiar's sells are meant as 'toppers' in that they should not be relied upon as your only form of wax protection, rather to up keep to make sure you always have an even coat.

In this way, the NXT spray wax is VERY easy and fast to use while being fairly inexpensive. Do this once every car wash if you would like to ensure maximum protection, as least this is what I do while using Ultimate Quick Detailer throughout the week to take care of dust, finger prints, and other fresh containments.

    Hope that helps!

KC...not really sure of the answer for you. But, here is what I discovered on accident... Clay the car first then...Use NXT2 with a buffer, wait 10 hours afer the wax has setup and then use Meguiars Ultimate Qwick Detailer...the car will shine to an almost mirror finish...from that point on for the next month or so you will be able to wax your car using the Ultimate Qwick Detailer. After the month is gone or if you haven't had bad weather 2 months, you clay the car and reapply the NXT2 again...this will bring out a superior shine at a minimum of effort...

For some reason, I was under the impression that NXT Spray Wax wasn't designed to be used in conjunction with the new NXT 2.0 due to its lack of hydrophobic properties. Not sure if I'm right on this, but I thought Mike once said that UQD is to NXT 2.0 as NXT Spray Wax was to NXT 1.0. I simply use UQD after every wash to boost my existing wax protection.

With NXT 2.0, use UQD now and then to boost the protection. The NXT spray wax is pretty useless since you have to spread it, let it dry and buff of. You can use NXT 2.0 instead and get better protection and no streaks. Wish Meguiars could develop a spray sealant like Aqua wax.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. I agree with Mark. This is why I was confused... I find it redundant to have the NXT tech wax and NXT spray wax since you have to apply, dry then buff them both anyways? Same effort right? So in this case, I just use the UQD after every wash to maintain the wax? On a separate note, any feedback on which is better for a black car? NXT tech wax or the Gold calssic wax?

I would say NXTv2 is better on black. GC is still a great product though.

I use UQD after every wash.

The point behind the spray wax if I am not mistaken is not to have it as a method to wax the car, rather for it to be a way to give it that 'just waxed' feeling in just a fraction of the time. Think about it; the spray wax goes on very quickly with a towel, and it dries SUPER fast. Usually by the time you get back to where you started, it has already dried, making it much faster than waxing regularly. It is more of a method to add protection and gloss to the paint while UQD is meant for light dusting/removing finger prints and adding a high surface tension (hydrophobic).
