I've always used the absorber.... but I've also read online that they can cause swirling, and judging by the minor swirls on my paint, I think they may be right. :laughin

I have both, and much prefer the water magnets. I have 3 Water Magnets, 1 California Drying Towel, 1 other brand drying towel (can't remember what brand right now) and plan on buying some more of that same type of towel.

It's a personal choice, both are great product.

i have tried about all the different methods but one that i really like and leaves no swirls is this ultra plush microfiber drying towel. I got it from walmart. It is very soft and large, it can hold alot of water and i just simply lay it over the area and run the towel across the surface applying no pressure. Just the weight of the towel is enough. Works great and i have seen no swirls since i started using it.

That drying towel from Wal- Mart looks interesting. Currently I am using the absorber and the marine water magnet for the paint, The auto water magnet for glass. Occasionally I use the California drying towel also. I am very interested in the microfiber tho. Will have to investigate.

If you do decide to try out that microfiber towel i will suggest you wash it at least once or twice before using. The first time i used it, it left so much lint behind on the car i almost threw it away but after i washed it i have not had that problem again and it is now lint free .

i use the absorber sometimes using bloting,and it did seem to swirl my paint so i only use bloting w/ it when in use.i have used the cali blade for years now only use on windows now.and water magnets.i also have a big waffle weave from Griots Garage that is very nice and has pockets sewn on it to put your hands in while in use.so that wal mart microfiber i might have to try.i'll take your word for it that it is good quality.

The Water Magnets and the California Drying Towels are basically the same thing. The CA Drying Towel IMO seems to be a bit smoother, not that it makes it perform better, just an observation. They are both basically the same size, I just wanted to try it out since my Water Magnets seemed to stop absorbing water. I have a wash/rinse cycle down now and since then both have performed as good as each other.

I have the MF Soft Touch Drying Towel and it just isn't for my car. Too many bumps here and there. If I had some flat area to cover so to speak, I'm sure it would do great. I tried using mine for about 2 minutes, and it has been folded up at the bottom of the drawer ever since.

how long does the walmart towel last? i want to buy the water magnets but i have read they dont last long. anyone use the old school chamois? how is the california dry blade too? does that leave scratches?

I have found the WM need to be washed carefully for them to continue to work 100%. Kind of a pain, but worth it.

Water Blades can cause large scratches (still have one in my hood from years ago) if anything is on the paint.

I've been drying my Mustang with an Absorber for the past year, and see no scratches/swirls in the paint; maybe it's just how you're using it?

I USED to have a natural chamois, but it was kind of a problem to use, because you had to get it wet and let it soak up some water if it got dried out. Otherwise, it was a lot like a rawhide chew for a dog - which, unfortunately, was the ultimate demise. One of our dogs thought it was a chew toy and shredded it...

I'm going to Walmart this weekend to pick up some more Meg's products, so I'll have to look for said drying towel.

I've had that big blue towel a long time. It is soft and I use once in a while.

I currently use my Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfibers for drying duties. I've read to put a full stream of water on the car(no sprayer that is) and it will run off and not have much to dry, it works great.

I use one towel to dry and wring out as I go and my cheapo MF towels for door jambs and what not.

The best? probably not, but works for me.
