  • Cleaning tinted windows

I don´t know if this is the right place to put this thread, but I assume that detailing involves cleaning the windows inside and outside, so I have the following problem: all my windows are tinted, and I like to know if there is some Meg´s product safe to clean the tint film, since I don´t want to screw the film, or maybe someone could give some advice.
I read somewhere that a product called Plexus could be used to clean the tinted windows but I haven´t prove it, thanks for your help.

All our glass cleaners are safe for tinted window.

This one should be fairly easy to find at many retail stores.

I know that the Detailer line cleaners are tint safe. I am pretty sure that all Meguiar's glass cleaners are tint safe. You just want to avoid anything that contains ammonia. Make sure to use a microfiber and not something that can scratch the tint like newspaper.

Edit: Ya, like Mike said. lol

A common ammonia-based window cleaner is Windex, which a lot of people use.

Thanks for your help, and it´s my fault but I didn´t know that the NXT Generation glass cleaner could be used on the inside. And effectively I was warned against the ammonia!.

Yup, I also love the detailer line glass cleaner!! I went home this past weekend and before that I hadn't been home in over a month. Sad as it is, my Jeep has not been washed in over a month either but last time I was home I waxed it with NXTv2. Anyway, I was so excited to detail my Jeep I cleaned the interior windows once and the exterior windows over 5 times through-out the weekend! Pollen kept getting on them and I just couldnt help myself, plus that stuff smells awesome!

The detailer line concentrate works great. The Gallon will last you a good long time.

Plexus probably isn't the best stuff for glass. I used to wash/detail motorcycles and if I remember correctly it is a platic cleaner that is made for items like hard windscreens on motorcycles or plastic panels on motorcycles that don't have painted parts (like fenders and gas tanks and such). I guess you could use it on your headlights, but probably not your glass.

Everyone else covered it and ammonia is the chemical you want to avoid. Many glass cleaners will even say they are safe on tinted windows or ammonia free. My areosol glass cleaner is one of the few products I use that is not Meguiar's and it has that it is safe on tint and ammonia free on the can. (One of the only reasons I do not use NXT Glass Cleaner is I can't find it, but I do have a bottle of the Quik Glass cleaner.)

Thanks for the advices about avoiding ammonia, I´ll look to find the NXT Generation Glass Cleaner, I made a quick search yesterday, but the stores near home run out of it.

I use Stoners Invisible Glass, was the first product I found not to cause streaking everywhere. Of course, I never tried the Meguiars or NXT before so I guess those will be my next pick-ups lol.

I also use Stoner's Invisible Glass because it's a great product and Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner isn't sold anywhere in my area. I prefer the spray bottle to the aersol can. They have it at Wal-Mart.
