  • What would be the best wax for a car show?

What would be the best wax for a car show? My school car show is coming up on May6. I have NXT1.0 on my car right now and it looks awsome. Should I get NXT 2.0? Or should I go with Gold Class?
I have tiny spider scatches that you can only see in direct sunlight in my paint but I am using #80 and #83 with a D/A along with #7. What would you recommend because I have faded paint and what would really make it pop?

    Nxt 2.0 looks really promising.

I would actually look into ColorX/M66 or the new D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream. They will offer a fantastic protection/look to the paint, as well as giving you the security of having a paint cleaner/polish/protection to quickly correct any imperfections/scratches/etchines (water/bird/bug) with relative ease.

          Here's what I'd recommend:

          1) Wash/Dry the car (goes without saying)

          2) Clay the car with the Smooth Surface Clay Kit (this will help remove the surface contaminants & prep the car for the #80/83 polishing that you're going to give it).

          3) Polish the car with #80/83 to remove the scratches (time consuming, but worth it when you're going to have the car in a car show) and oxidization/fading. After that, you can follow up with the #7 to put a good shine/polish to the car as well.

          4) Apply your wax. For this, I'd recommend the NXT 2.0, but if you've still got some 1.0 use it up. The 1.0 is great wax; the 2.0 is just a bit more durable, from what I've seen.

Also, take a bottle of Quick Detailer and a MF towel with you; when you get to the show, make sure you do your wipe down to get the dust/bugs/dirt/etc. that might have gotten onto the car in the drive to the show.

And, something that a judge told me at a show I was in once - wipe down your wheels & dress your tires. Don't just use a spray-on cleaner and expect it to cut it; actually wipe them down with a rag/towel to get any brake dust off of the nooks & crannies. That's a big thing that they look at, and if you've got dirt on the wheels, your eye is drawn straight to it when the rest of the car looks good.

For sure get the scratches out with #80 and #83 if needed. Some of the old time car show exhibitors would stop with #7 and no wax. P21S Carnauba Wax or S100 Carnauba Wax would be my choice for a wax. They are made by the same company and are IMO identical. The S100 sells for about half the price of P21S and is readily available at Harley Davidson dealerships. Both are easy on and easy off. They are not very durable but they most certainly have "pop".

What do I use on my daily drivers? NXT of course.

Thanks for all that info.I will clean my motor because my hood will be open. Has anybody tried a nxt 1.0 and nxt 2.0 combination? If so what was the turn out? I will look into the S100. I have been to my local Harley shop and I did not see any detailer products. I will go and look agian.
              Thanks for all your help.

The Meg's waxes can't be beat but as someone posted the five step, you need a good surface for the wax to work with.

Make sure you do the above steps and pick any of the Meg's waxes. I like M26 / M21 2.0(and M21) / NXT and NXT 2.0 / Gold Class(make sure surface is clean good) / Color X to maintain.

When done, use UQD for a dust off during the car show.

                Have fun.

Machine polish with M80, hand apply M07, apply a coat of NXT (either version), wait at least 12 hours and then top it with M26. Yowza!!

So you would recommend NXT over a high quality carnauba for a car show?

Yes, that would be my personal choice, but products like Gold Class and M26 would also be great choices.

                              I say NXT 2.0 topped with M07.
