  • Quik Wax questions

Now that I´m done with my first complete detail of the year I have a couple of questions: Can I use another brand of spray wax to maintain the shine I already have a bottle of Turtle Wax´s Express Shine or should I use Meguiar´s Quik Wax? and if I decide to use Quik Wax can this be used with any of Meguiar´s waxes? actually I used Cleaner Wax; and finally can I mist Quik Wax directly onto the car and then wipe dry, or should I use an applicator and then wait it to dry and finally wipe dry like you do with a regular wax? since this thread: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3317 show this method. Thanks for your help!

    Re: Quik Wax questions

Another brand of spray wax should be fine, go ahead and use it up. Any spray wax can be used over any wax. You can't really spray the wax on the car and wipe dry because the spraying of the wax will not cover the entire surface of the car. You still need to spread the wax around. The spray wax will dry much quicker than your regular wax so you won't need to wait too long. Hope that helps!

      Re: Quik Wax questions

Used correctly, Meguiar's waxes are applied, allowed to dry and then removed. This would include a spray wax.

Have you tried the new UQD? It gives you the look of the spray wax but you don't have to let it dry, a little easier to use.

Thanks for your help, so I´ll use the Turtle Wax until finish it, then I´m gonna give UQD a shot, and my last question I plan to use the spray wax right after every saturday wash, can I use Quick Detailer on top this Turtle Wax in between washes?

Quick Detailer (QD) is for removing light dust. It doesnt give as much lubrication as washing does, so if there is a lot of dirt, or rougher dirt/debris, you would be risking putting swirls in.

Of course there is no real definition of what light is, so its kind of a judgement call. If it seems light to you, go for it.

As a side note, even if your car is filthy, and a bird takes a liking to it, or a real hard water drip hits you, definately use the QD to get it off. Use more dabbing, not rubbing, but get that stuff off before it etches the paint.

Thanks Murr1525 for the advice, and for sure I meant using the QD only when the car is as you said "lightly dust", and of course when a bird drop a bomb on it hehe, it has already happen!
